picplz shutting down
It has been a pleasure bringing picplz to our users, but we have decided to move on to other projects and have made the tough decision to shut it down.
On July 3, 2012, picplz will shut down permanently, and all photos and user data will be deleted. Until then, users may download their own photos by clicking on the download link next to each photo in their photo feed.
Thank you to everyone involved for their support and guidance, and thank you to all the picplz users!
You have no idea how sad this makes me. Picplz is the only quality alternative that I’ve found to Instagram, which my budget smartphone doesn’t support. I probably wouldn’t even use Instagram if I had an iphone or a high-end Android (for many reasons). But I really love using Picplz. Their filters are subtle and classy, they don’t crop my photos, and they have great connectivity to facebook, twitter, flickr and tumblr. It’s just easy to use and it always works…. Sad day.
